Age of Lithuanians in Ireland

The weekly newspaper Lietuvis began publishing in September of 2004. It was that year that saw the integration of Lithuania into the European Union, and many Lithuanians went to live and work in Europe, a lot of them- to Ireland.
They all needed a steady and reliable source of information that could help them in their new life. Because of the fact that many Lithuanians do not possess a strong knowledge of English, the creation of an Irish newspaper in Lithuanian was called for.

The Lietuvis weekly was the first newspaper for the Lithuanian community in Ireland. The goal of it's team was the supply of information to their countrymen in Ireland and the UK.

In every issue our readers can find:
• Editorials about various laws of Ireland and new changes in the constitution. The readers can also ask question to which the newspaper will give answers
• English lessons (because many immigrants do not have the free time to visit English classes)
• Fresh news about life in Ireland
• News from Lithuania
• World news
• Also news about show business, sport, various gossip and many more

The Lietuvis newspaper is available to a wide range of immigrants from Lithuania, because it is distributed to 129 shops in Ireland and around 100 shops in Britain. The total weekly number of distributed issues is 10000.

The newspaper is also known in Lithuania. Every week a new issue of Lietuvis is sent to the national library in Vilnius. Lietuvis reporters are taking an active part in the life of the Lithuanian community in Ireland and are presenting it not only here but in their homeland as well.
